Our team completed the Drupal development work on this site, in partnership with The Communication Group, and our old friend and former CivicActions colleague, Karyn Gladstone.

Last time I talked about the Google Documents distribution I built to demonstrate the power of the new build system. We showed how easy it was to retrieve a list of documents. One other issue that came up while playing with that was how to easily search for a document or in Joomla's case: an article.

English rock band Led Zeppelin is using Drupal for their official website at http://www.ledzeppelin.com. According to Wikipedia, they have their own label called Swan Song Records. Rock!

Recently, Google launched Google Insights. Like with Google Trends, you can just type in a search term to see search volume patterns over time, as well as the top related and rising searches. You'll also have the ability to compare search volume trends across multiple search terms, categories (commonly referred to as verticals), geographic regions, or specific time ranges. Great for marketing people.

I just came across a site running Joomla thats been setup for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Orchestra to publish news and general information about the orchestra etc.

The site's fairly simple and, like many other quick'n'dirty Joomla sites out there, uses a Joomlashack template. Though its been put together a little spottily (menu item assignments don't seem to be uniform through the site so some pages don't feature the full navigation etc...), this site really reminded me how pervasive Joomla is for people who want just a tad more than say, a Wordpress blog.

Ohloh.com is an interesting little website that has spurred some chatter on the Drupal dev mailing list. It claims to "map the open source world" by "collecting objective information on open source projects."

It analyzes the codebase and contributions for a project and spits out some interesting data. A particularly charming feature is that it estimates the number of collective man hours that have gone into a given project, and tallies what it might cost to have such a project developed.

Earlier this month, NetSquared was generous enough to fund my attendance at the Lullabot Drupal Intensive workshop in Providence, Rhode Island. Drupal is a free, open-source content management system that allows non-technical users to update your site and is capable of powering blogs, community sites, action-oriented campaigns and social networks along the lines of MySpace and Facebook. Lullabot, a Drupal development firm that involved in much of the Drupal development, has a keen interest in Drupal for nonprofits.
